Which type of LockJaw turbine is best for you?All of our turbines feature our exclusive LockJaw spindle chucksand they can be used with lubricant or lube free. We offer two types of bearings: 1) The premium option is our integral shield bearing. Bearing manufacturers have recently developed dental bearings with integral shields. Their advantages include lower friction, higher torque, less noise and longer life. The shield is formed from a single piece of metal. There are no plates or C-clips. They do not have seams that allow debris to enter the bearing. You will not often see integral shield bearings because they are more expensive. 2) The value option is the fully shielded bearing. This style of bearing has been the standard in the industry and is a very good bearing. This is the bearing shown in the picture above on the left with the gold shield. They use plates and C-clips which create more friction and allow entry of debris. When replacing the turbine, you may have noticed stray metal pieces that stay in the head or back cap.
