MQ-1640 Flake Resin is a high-performance, silicone-based film former developed by DowSil, made from a blend of Trimethylsiloxysilicate and Polypropylsilsesquioxane. This unique flake resin is widely used in cosmetics for its exceptional long-wear and water-resistant properties. When incorporated into formulations, MQ-1640 creates a flexible, durable film on the skin or hair, which enhances product longevity and improves adhesion. This makes it especially valuable in color cosmetics, such as foundations, mascaras, lipsticks, and sunscreens, as well as in haircare products where hold and shine are essential. The lightweight, breathable finish ensures a comfortable feel, making MQ-1640 a go-to ingredient for products requiring a long-lasting, high-performance formula. Must be dissolved in the oil phase, solvents may include silicones, organic solvents such as isododecane or anhydrous alcohols. Usage can range from 3-5% to 15-20% depending on application.
